Bow River (JUWURLINJI) by Jaiden Wilson
emerging artist Jaiden Wilson brings a powerful and heartfelt connection to her ancestral country through this evocative work. As the daughter of esteemed artist Kathy Ramsay, Jaiden carries forward a strong artistic lineage, while expressing her own voice with depth and clarity.
This piece portrays the Country of her Gully Gully (great-grandfather), Timmie Timms, situated in Bow River. The central feature is Durrji, traditionally known as Black Hill—a sacred place rich with story and belonging.
In Jaiden’s words, “This is the home of the cave man we call Ngoongoony. He don’t hurt our families, because we belong here—to this Country.” Through this narrative, she honours the enduring relationship between her people and the land, a place protected by spirit and ancestral presence.
Rendered with youthful insight and cultural reverence, Jaiden’s work is a testament to the strength of intergenerational knowledge and the continuing power of Country to shape identity, memory, and art.
